Harry and I love to cook and eat delicious food. Admittedly, Harry does most of the cooking (and eating). Still, my newest category will be named “My Kitchen”. 😉
Let’s start out with a very simple recipe for our favourite pasta dish. 🍝😋
“Spicy shrimp pasta” describes this dish correctly but we thought, an Italian name might sound a tad more glamorous, hence the title. 🤣 (Thanks for helping out, Ludovica. 🇮🇹😘)
It is not a typical Italian pasta dish, of course, because Harry kind of invented it himself many years ago. He used to like “Brunch Paprika & Peperoni” sandwich spread and, being a North Sea enthusiast, he loves “Granat” as brown shrimp is called up in East Frisia. 🦐
So, one day long ago he thought that, when combined, “Brunch Paprika & Peperoni” and “Granat” might make a terrific pasta sauce. Turned out he was right. 👍
That does it, I’m hungry now! 😉
Okay, here we go…! 👩🍳
What we need (for 2 eaters1):
- 250g (9oz) of our favourite pasta
- 185g (6½oz) of our favourite pepper/chili spread2
- 100g (3½oz) peeled shrimp (or prawns)
- clarified butter (or sunflower oil)
How to do it:
- Heat some clarified butter in a frying pan, then sauté the shrimps.
- Add the pepper/chili sandwich spread, stir while it is melting and getting smooth.
- When it starts to bubble, turn down the heat to the minimum but keep stirring occasionally.
- Cook the pasta “al dente” so that it is tender but still firm when bitten.
You can choose to either use the sauce as a topping for the pasta or to mix everything together in the frying pan. Enjoy your meal! 😋

- If you wish to prepare the pepper/chili sandwich spread yourself, the following recipe found on the internet might come in handy (not tested by us):
200g (7oz approx.) cream cheese
1 red pepper
1 chili pepper
1 onion
1 tablespoon of chili oil
salt and pepper
Wash the peppers and remove their seeds. Peel the onions. Chop the peppers and the onion into very small pieces. Add the vegetables to the cream cheese and puree the mixture until it is very smooth. Mix in the oil and season the mixture with salt and pepper. ↩︎
