Räuberfleisch 🔥

I like it spicy – not only in the bedroom but also in the kitchen. 😉

“Räuberfleisch” (literally translates to: robber’s meat) is a delicious, spicy meat dish.

In Germany, we have a saying which can be translated as “you also eat with your eyes”.

And rarely has this been as true as with this dish. It looks great and colourful during preparation, then savoury and delicious when it goes into and comes out of the oven. 😋

And I’m sure it would also look great on the plate if Hubby was as talented at serving as he is at cooking. 😄

Okay, maybe the light wasn’t perfect, either. But don’t be fooled, it is an incredibly tasty dish and I can only recommend that you try it.

We opted for croquettes as a side dish. Boiled potatoes, pasta and rice would certainly also go well.

What we need:

  • 4 pork cutlets (alternatively: chicken cutlets, turkey cutlets)
  • 1 onion
  • 100g (3½oz) diced bacon
  • 250g (8¾oz) mushrooms
  • 2 picked cucumbers
  • 2 sweet peppers
  • 250ml (½pt) bouillon
  • 200g (7oz) sour cream
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • Tabasco or hot-pepper sauce
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • Hot paprika powder
  • Salt and pepper
  • Olive oil

How to do it:

  • Season the cutlets with salt and pepper and place them in a baking dish.
  • Cut the onions, mushrooms, pickled cucumbers and sweet peppers into slices.
  • Sauté the onions in a little olive oil.
  • Add and briefly fry the bacon, mushrooms, pickles and sweet pepper slices.
  • Add the garlic powder and pour in the bouillon.
  • Add the tomato paste and the sour creme, stir in well.
  • Flavour with tabasco, salt, pepper and hot paprika powder.
  • Pour the sauce over the cutlets in the baking dish.
  • Optionally, you can sprinkle everything with some cheese.
  • Put the uncovered dish in the oven at 200°C (390°F) for 30 minutes.
